Frankley School Newsletter
Term 3, week 2
Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Hola, Konnichiwa, Kumusta, Namaste, Ni hao, Guten Tag, Hallo, Mauri, Hej, Assalamualaikum
The weather this week has provided an excellent opportunity for our Tūhono hub to participate in the Cyclist Skills Training. There have been great stories of persistence, courage and skill as our young cyclists have learnt how to safely ride on our roads. We are so proud of their efforts and encourage them to consistently use what they have learnt. A massive thank you to the team of adults who come in to deliver this programme.
This newsletter includes important dates for term 3: student led conferences, cross country (school and New Plymouth schools) and interschool sports. For our senior Interschool Sports this year we are playing against Oakura, St Josephs and Spotswood Primary. You are more than welcome to come along and celebrate our sports events with us. There are two home games and one away. This year we have teams playing Netball, Football and Rugby.
Our Collaborative hubs open at 8.30am every morning. The teachers are ready to greet our children and check in with them as they arrive. We are not available to supervise children before this time and thank you for dropping them off from 8.30am in the morning.
Frankley School Enrolment Scheme
We are working with the Ministry of Education on a proposed Enrolment Scheme for Frankley school. We will share more information as we work through this process.
Property Updates
Over the last 6 weeks we have improved a few areas for our tamariki using extra funding for special projects from the Ministry of Education. We have had 2 new turf installed and Room 12 has had a makeover to create a lovely workshop area. We are currently working on plans for an outside Learning Through Play area off Te Puāwai. You are more than welcome to pop in and check out our new spaces. We are very thankful for the extra funding.
Due to weather tightness issues with our administration block The Ministry of Education are replacing this area. We are currently at the planning stage, with building to commence sometime next year. We will share plans with our community as this project gains momentum.
If you have a pool key from last swimming season can you please return this to Robyn in the office.
Seasons for Growth
The Seasons for Growth program supports 6-18 year olds who have experienced a loss or change in their family through death, parental separation or divorce, migration, imprisonment, fostering or any similar event. Small groups of 3-6 participants, facilitated by screened, trained and police vetted adult Companions, meet once a week, for an hour, for 9 weeks. Groups usually start early each term. We are planning to run a group in term 4 during school time.
There is also a 4 week program for children living with someone experiencing a serious or life-threatening illness. Please contact the Principal if you are interested.
