Frankley School Newsletter
Term 1, Week 1, 3 February 2021
Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Hola, Konnichiwa, Kumusta, Namaste, Ni hao, Guten Tag, Hallo, Mauri, Hej, Assalamualaikum, Bonjour
Welcome to another fabulous year at Frankley School. I have included bits and pieces to support a smooth transition back into school. New Zealand remains at Alert level 1 and everyone is doing the right thing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so we’re pleased to say it’s business as usual.
We continue to have a large amount of control over how we can prevent the spread of COVID. For our school we will:
display QR code posters for the NZ COVID Tracer App
keep our visitor register, attendance register and timetables up to date
be monitoring for illness and asking anyone who is unwell to remain at home, or to go home
encourage people with relevant symptoms to seek medical advice through Healthline or their GP and get tested for COVID if recommended to do so
reinforce the importance of good hand washing and drying
reinforce good cough and sneeze etiquette
I can reassure you that we will continue to regularly clean all parts of our school.
Āraia te kino and protect yourself, your whānau and your whakapapa.
Meet the Teacher Whānau Picnic
An opportunity to socialise with Frankley whānau and learn about your child’s hub from their teachers
Tuesday 9 February - from 5pm
Bring your family and picnic dinner, set up in our beautiful grounds on the grassy area by
Te Kākano and enjoy the company of our fantastic community. Sports gear will be available (the pool will be closed due to the amount of children).
Your child’s hub teachers will share information with you at allotted times. You can return to your picnic after sharing time within the hub. This is a great way to hear about expectations, learning and opportunities for your children.
Time Slots
Information sharing sessions:
Te Kākano 5.00-5.20pm
Te Puāwai 5.25-5.45pm
Te Pihinga 5.50-6.10pm

Mornings at Frankley School
The bell rings at 9am. It is important that all children have unpacked their bags and are ready for learning at 9am. The teachers are in their hubs before the bell rings if you would like to touch base, or message them through Seesaw or email to make an appointment. Children are not to arrive at school until 8.30am as there is no supervision until this time. Please ensure you contact the office by 9am if your child is going to be away or late. Thank you.
Term 1 Sports
Cricket and Touch notices are available in the office.
They need to be returned by the end of this week please: cricket notices to Wendy Parkes in Kahikatea and touch notices to Lyndon Young in Tūhono.

Water Safety
A focus in term 1 at Frankley School is Water Skills for Life. This is supported by Water Safety, New Zealand. Our children need to respect the water and have the skills, knowledge and awareness to enjoy it safely. The high drowning rates in New Zealand highlight the importance that our children need to know how to keep themselves safe and what to do when the unexpected happens around water. If you have any questions about your child’s water safety programme please talk to their teachers.
Please pack children’s togs tomorrow as they will be swimming.
Driving and Parking
Our school car park is for staff and for visitors during the school day. The gate is closed from 8.30am-3.15pm. This is for the safety of our children.
Our road is very busy after school. Please be super considerate of our neighbours and each other when you are driving and parking outside of our school. I am having to manage complaints about the parking habits of our community. Thank you for your support with this.
