Sun Safety
Term 4 is the time to get the sunhats out. This is compulsory - they must be bucket hats, the bigger the brim the better, no caps please. Sunscreen is available at school however it is always advisable to apply it in the morning before leaving home as well. Our sun shades will go up over the holidays around the school. If your child does not wear a hat at break time they will be asked to play in the shade.SFRC Grocery Raffle tickets Details
Tickets for families to sell will be available early next term. Please fill out this google form to indicate if you would like tickets sent home. This is an easy way to support our school; not compulsory, just an opportunity!
2020 Frankley School Community Health and PE Consultation Summary
Recommendations from the overall data:
We need to ensure Mental Health is forefront in our curriculum
Continue to offer a very active playground along with extra activities such as yoga
Parents want to know the programmes that are covered in the classrooms over the terms and hear about this in more detail
Our 2021 Frankley School Strategic Plan and Curriculum documentation will reflect the information collated from our stakeholders.
Sports
Well done to all of our sports teams and coaches over a mucky winter season. We really appreciate the enthusiasm to keep our children active over this time, especially under different conditions for spectators.

Successful Grants
NZCT has awarded funds towards a Frankley School project for a stainless steel accessible slide. Southern Trust have also awarded our school over $14,000 to purchase 4 very large outdoor musical instruments. These will all go into a dedicated Learning Through Play space that is currently being developed by Rachel James, Geraldine Irvine and Nikolai Dixon. There will be a working bee in term 4 to put this concept plan into place. We are looking for builders to construct two small climbing walls, tree stumps cut and placed, and shovel ready volunteers. Please contact Geraldine geraldine@frankley.school.nz if you can help in any way.
Kahikatea students are designing a mural to go up along the new path on Tukapa Street. We have successfully been granted $700 toward this project for the paint from NPDC Creative Communities and NZTA have donated the plywood. Custom Construction are donating fence space, thanks Mumby family.
We have also been awarded $1200 from the Kiwisport Fast Fund. This was used to purchase 4 new bike and scooter jumps made by SwitchSteez.
Thanks to Erin Smith, our Grants Coordinator, for her mahi (work).
We also received some funding for a group of senior children to go surfing.
