Frankley School Newsletter
Term 1, Week 8, 26 March 2021
Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Hola, Konnichiwa, Kumusta, Namaste, Ni hao, Guten Tag, Hallo, Mauri, Hej, Assalamualaikum, Bonjour
The term is flying by and along with it a changing season. We are very thankful for our team of pool volunteers who have ensured our tamariki (children) have had the opportunity to take part in Water Skills for Life, lunchtime swims and family time at our school pool. Thanks to Dave Fox for coordinating a dedicated bunch: the Kennards, Corletts, Gareth and Danushka Fox, Rebecca Miles, Paula Matheson: and the Robinson, Waterman and Shield whānau. Thanks to Rangi Trinder for preparing the pool to start the swimming season.
At Frankley we love a good celebration and making people feel special however we have noticed children are bringing lollies to school to share on their birthday. Respectfully I ask that lollipops etc are not bought to school but we will sing our hearts out and make each child feel special on their big day. Thanks for your support .
Have a super week.

10 tips for parents
The Question and Answer section at the end was really insightful and has given us the information we need to enhance our whānau engagement. We have discussed the feedback with our teaching staff and we will work on a sustainable plan to meet the needs of our families.
We will run some day sessions in the near future for those families who were unable to attend.
Tū Kaha Tū manaaki Tū ako - Courageous Caring Learner
It has been wonderful to see Tū Ako in action as our Year 6 and Te kākano students spend time together learning from each other in our tuakana/teina sessions. This happens weekly with a variety of activities. Our Year 6 tuakana also help out in the playground, and assists when a younger student needs a bit more support in their day.
SchoolDocs Policy Review
As mentioned in our week 1 newsletter we have changed our Frankley School Policy and Procedure documentation to SchoolDocs, the online policy and procedure service for schools.

SFRC - Social and Fundraising Committee
SFRC had their first meeting for the year. It was awesome to see new faces, and hear enthusiasm for bringing our school community together. The next meeting will be on Tuesday April 13, 7pm in the staffroom. Please come along and join this group. Bring 2 friends! Our famous school carnival is booked for November 7 2021.
SFRC have purchased an outside unit to store the defibrillator that was kindly donated to the school by Nathan and Karen Mumby from Coresteel BUILDINGS. The unit is attached to the front of the school hall and you can access the code from the AED locations app.
We still have 2020 hub tea towels for sale. Please contact the office if you would like to purchase some. $12 for one, $20 for two.

communication writing from Te Pihinga
Jett Castell
Last Tuesday we got to look at the drone. There was a black one and 2 white drones. We also sat on the mat and John and Nathan the drone people talked about the drones. Then we walked to the field on the cricket pitch and John and Nathan turned the drone on. I was amazed with how high it was in the sky. They also made the drone go fast and they used the white drone. That was my favourite drone. My favourite bit with the drone was when it went fast in the sky.
